12.3: Competition

It is now time for students to compete head to head and see how their robots measure up to those of their peers.  There are many different ways to hold competitions, and many different levels at which competitions may be held.  Students may end up playing in a small competition in their classroom, they may end up competing against several robotics classes in a district wide showdown, or they could take their robot and compete at the international level against other students from around the world.

To prepare for competition, students should refer to Appendix 4 : “Guide to Preparing for Competition” which will show them the things they need to know about different competition formats. This guide also provides a variety of tips and tricks for competing.

Teachers should refer to the “VEX Guide to Holding a Competition” in Appendix 3 for information on setting up a competition for their students.
